Moody and architectural with a quietly dramatic presence, Alocasia wentii — known as the New Guinea Shield — showcases broad, shield-shaped foliage in deep smoky green with rich burgundy undersides. Its structured, upright growth and subtle metallic sheen create a refined tropical statement that feels both bold and elevated. A beautiful choice for collectors who love depth, contrast, and sculptural greenery. ✨
✦Why You’ll Love It
- •Dramatic shield-shaped foliage with defined veining
- •Deep green tops with striking burgundy undersides
- •Upright, architectural growth habit
- •Fast grower in the right environment
- •Statement-worthy while still feeling refined
Please Note
Each Alocasia wentii is beautifully unique. Natural variation in leaf size, shape, tone, and veining is expected and celebrated. Minor cosmetic imperfections may be present and do not affect overall plant health. As with most Alocasia varieties, older leaves may naturally yellow as new growth emerges — this is part of its natural growth cycle.
✦Care Summary
- •Light: Bright, indirect light
- •Water: Keep evenly moist, allowing the top inch to dry slightly between waterings
- •Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity (50%+ ideal)
- •Soil: Well-draining, chunky houseplant or aroid mix
- •Growth Habit: Upright, structured foliage plant
- •Pet Safety: Not pet-friendly. Toxic if ingested by cats and dogs.
- •A bold yet elegant tropical beauty that adds rich dimension and that signature luxe plant energy to your space. 🌿🤍
